
Dr. Janessa Patel is a board-certified optometrist specializing in primary eye care and post-operative management. She is passionate about providing patient-centered care with an emphasis on building meaningful connections and earning her patients’ trust. Dr. Patel understands that our vision is often taken for granted until it becomes threatened, and believes in addressing patient concerns through an approach rooted in humility, honesty, and deep compassion.
Dr. Patel earned both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She is board-certified through the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and licensed to practice in both Florida and Massachusetts. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometry Association, and the Northeast Florida Optometry Society.
Her professional interests lie in the medical management of ocular manifestations of systemic disease, such as diabetes, hypertension, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and glaucoma. Dr. Patel values the evolving role of optometry as a vital part of overall healthcare and enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support her patients’ overall well-being.
From a young age, Dr. Patel has been driven by a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is helping patients regain the ability to perform everyday tasks and return to activities that bring them happiness and purpose.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Patel serves as a mentor and success coach for optometry students preparing for board exams. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, trying new foods, photography, and reading.
